Cameroon: Crocodile skin vest,
shows the creativity and ingenuity of artists from the Cameroons. Its painstaking craftsmanship tells us it was likely made for a person of high status, such as a great warrior. Field Museum of Natural History.

 Asante region, Ghana: State sword (afena, Mpomponsuo) with curved cast iron blade. The wooden hilt which are covered with leopard skin. Sheath (boha) is made of leopard skin. The lost wax cast hollow gold sword ornament (abosodee) depicts a coiled snake, (probably a python) gripping an antelope (possibly a dyker (otwe) in its jaws

Kenya: Shield from the Maasai people, Cow or buffalo hide, polychrome paint. Young warriors, not yet considered to be the equals of the older, were allowed just the use of black motifs on their shields. Only a man who had proven his bravery was allowed the color red.
